About
Creaitive
Thinking
I'm Steve, seasoned tech support, systems thinker, creative tinkerer, and the person behind Creaitive Thinking.
I've spent almost 25 years solving problems for other small businesses, fixing, troubleshooting, looking for ways to make things easy without confusing everybody along the way.
This site is a place where I'm bringing a lot of that together; there's a real focus on AI here, but I've got a few more tricks up my sleeve 😉
When it comes to this stuff, I know what I'm doing but I'm not presenting this as "Hey! Look at me!".
This is about passing this along. Not just the how, but also the why, and perhaps most importantly, how I thought about the why.
Why this exists
I'm finalising a market research kit - a collection of tools and guided techniques that frankly, I think, are truly outstanding. I use them myself in my business, and that's kind of the point. Everything I'm doing here and showing, is something I've made to make my own life easier.
Personally, I've always dreaded doing market research, but now the toolkit I've built for that has actually got me a bit excited about doing it. Because I've made it easy on myself, and if you're here reading this, it’s probably because those same tools did their job and found you. The marketing, the website copy, the design, it’s all built using the very prompts I’m sharing. (This is a human writing this, by the way).
Meanwhile I've got a growing collection of other tools that make my life easier and more pleasant as I work and I'll be adding those to a library of free prompts that you can take and use. When you start digging in to Customer Avatars, Personas and Archetypes, you'll probably find me listed under "The Altruistic Mercenary" 😆
What Guides
Me
Clarity beats cleverness. Simple, sharp thinking gets the job done.
Systems serve people. Not the other way around.
AI isn't the magic answer, but it can be a brilliant collaborative partner. If you talk to it the right way.
No, I don't mean you have to be some sort of prompt engineer. Quite the opposite in fact, and I'll be talking about that more elsewhere on the site.
I still run an IT support business; I still troubleshoot networks, untangle software problems, and help my customers understand why something went wrong, and what we'll do to neatly side-step it next time in plain English.
But I also like to build the things you'll find here. Tools and workflows that take the weight off, save time, make things easier and perhaps even, a bit fun.
It's a Creaitive outlet, and don't just take my word for it. Use the prompts, then show them to your AI and ask it "How can we make this even better, you know… just for me?"
You don't need to know how, you just need to know what to ask, and perhaps that's the biggest take-away you'll get from all of this.
Steve
